After eleven successful conferences (Capri 2004, Shanghai 2006, Anchorage 2008, Prague 2009, Florence 2010, Sydney 2011, Minneapolis 2012, Dubrovnik 2013, Quebec City 2014, Reykjavik, 2015, Lisbon 2016), the Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS) is pleased to announce that the next conference will be held in Kowloon, Hong Kong on June 5-7, 2017.


PROGRAM AND LOCATION

The conference will begin after lunch on June 5, and conclude in the evening of June 7. In addition to a very high quality program, the conference will feature a keynote speech by

and a special session by

JUSTIN LIN
Professor and Director of the Center for New Structural Economics
Honorary Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University.

The conference venue will be the Intercontinental Hotel, Kowloon, Hong Kong (https://hongkong-ic.intercontinental.com/) which is located in the Hong Kong downtown area close to museums and many attractions. Hong Kong is a premier city in Asia, where ancient traditions blend with a lively and modern atmosphere. In addition, Hong Kong is centrally positioned in Asia and allows excursions to several neighboring locations.


REGISTRATION

Registration is required for all conference participants. The registration fee of $300 ($350 after Monday May 1st) contributes to covering the conference receptions, coffee breaks, luncheons, and meeting room rentals. Please register at your earliest convenience by visiting https://www.conftool.com/FIRS. You may use your existing FIRS ConfTool account if you previously established one while submitting a paper or reviews. Otherwise, you can quickly create a new account to register for the conference.

Participants can also optionally register for the conference gala dinner to be held on Tuesday, June 6. The cost of the gala dinner is $100 per person. Guests are welcome. Please register early as the number of spaces is limited.


HOTEL RESERVATIONS

FIRS negotiated discounted rates starting at HK$ 1,800 per night for a block of hotel rooms at the Intercontinental Hotel, Hong Kong. These rates are guaranteed only until Tuesday March 21st, 2017. Reservations can be made at https://aws.passkey.com/go/FIRS2017. If you encounter any difficulties with your reservation, please email the Hotel Reservations Desk at HKGHC.Grouprsvn@ihg.com who will help you with your booking. Note that we have a limited number of rooms, so please book your hotel well in advance.

CONFERENCE DINNER AND HK HARBOR CRUISE

Reservations are open for the conference gala dinner, which is preceded by Hong Kong harbor cruise. Boarding will start at 6:15pm at the Tsim Sha Tsui Harbor dock and departure will be at 6:30pm. Dinner will be at the Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Sham Wan. Return will be by bus around 10:30pm. The cost of the dinner and harbor cruise is US$ 100.00. Please register soon because places are limited.
